Uechi-Ryu Regional Workout Reboot 2024

Let's bring back the DC area tradition of semi-regular Uechi-ryu workouts for all, regardless of rank, affiliation or association.  Please help us reboot Uechi-ryu regional workouts to reconnect our community.  Come one or both days!

All ranks welcome.  Adults ages 18+ only due to insurance limitations

Location:   Tilden Woods Local Park Activity Building, Rockville MD  

Cost:  Free. Donations welcome via Zelle to wkadojo1996@gmail.com

Registration is limited to 25 people due to venue size.
Parking: Onsite

Restrooms:  Available in the building

Changing space is limited.  We recommend you come in your gi.

Workout Format (subject to change):  

• 10:30 am to 12:00 pm - All ranks group workout 
• 12:00 to 12:30 - Group photo, break & socializing (snacks and water provided, bring your own lunch if desired)
• 12:30 to 2:00 - Whole body power: individual & partner training
• 2:00 to 3:30 - Kata: feedback, application and analysis in small groups
• 3:30 - Wrap up:  Time for follow up questions and individual kata review

We must be completely out of the building by 4pm

• Cost:  $10 for residents; $25 for non-residents
• Registration is limited to 40 people due to venue size

Location:  Silver Spring Recreation & Aquatic Center, 2nd Floor Exercise Studio

Locker rooms with showers and restrooms available onsite.

Parking is available at the Cameron Street Garage that's 1 block away. 

Workout Format (subject to change):  

• 9:00 to 9:30 - Junbi undo and the sinew channels
• 9:30 to 10:30 - Partner hojo-undo (disruption and targeting)
• 10:30 to 10:45 - Group photo & water break
• 10:45 to 11:45 - How to find & use whole body power during kata or partner exercises (small, interest-based groups)
• 11:45 - Wrap up:  Time for follow up questions or individual kata review

We must leave the exercise studio at 12:00pm sharp.

Group Lunch (pay your own way)   

Everyone is welcome to walk together to Mi Rancho, just 2 blocks away, for lunch following the workout!
